Parker police suspect a landscaper recently arrested for investigation of forgery, identity theft, criminal impersonation and identification theft may have more victims throughout the Denver metro area.
Jeremiah Lopez of Jeremiah Lopez Landscaping has used two different aliases and two different company names, said Josh Hans, Parker police spokesman.
Police arrested Lopez last week and held on a $20,000 bond. He bonded out over the weekend, Hans said.
Lopez would make contact with people on Craigslist. He would go to the homes of costumers and sign a landscaping contract for thousands of dollars, requiring half of the amount be paid up front, Hans said.
“He’d take half the money and that’s it,” he said. “You wouldn’t see him again.”
On one occasion he actually did a little bit of landscaping work and then never returned, Hans said.
Over the past week, a Parker officer has received calls from around 10 people who allegedly have been ripped off by Lopez, he said.
He uses the alias of John Manzanares and has called his company “Yankee Landscaping.”
Authorities believe Lopez has been working throughout the Denver metro area from Boulder to Parker.
“We need to hear from other potential victims …,” Hans’ news release Friday says.
Police ask anyone who may have information on the case to contact Detective Penny McLean at 303-805-6560.
