New Denver Sheriff Patrick Firman will meet the public Wednesday during a community forum.
The forum will be held at 6 p.m. at Rude Recreation Center, 2855 West Holden Pl., according to a notice on the Denver Sheriff Department Twitter account.
Firman was after a year-long search for a new sheriff. He comes to Denver after serving in sheriff departments in Lake and McHenry county sheriff’s offices in suburban Chicago.
He faces a major task in , which has been criticized for having too many excessive force cases among other issues.
Firman was sworn into office Oct. 16 after Mayor Michael Hancock conducted a national search.
