ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Health will replace a billboard in Gillette that has drawn local criticism for its blunt message about communicable disease prevention.

The billboard reads: “Wyoming has gonorrhea. Do you?”

Put up Oct. 1, the billboard is part of a state Health Department program that encourages people to be safe and get tested for sexually transmitted diseases.

After complaints, the agency agreed to replace it.

The billboard and five others like it have been posted in Wyoming cities that have the highest concentration of sexually transmitted diseases, including Cheyenne, Casper, Laramie, Riverton and Rawlins.
