The numbers being compiled by Valor Christian grad Christian McCaffrey are approaching mind-boggling proportions.
The Stanford sophomore, who will play at Colorado on Saturday, has played himself into Heisman Trophy consideration with a remarkable string of performances this season. Stanford (7-1, 6-0) is ranked ninth and is undefeated since a season-opening loss at Northwestern.
Here are just a few of his eye-popping statistics:
— 249 all-purpose yards vs. Southern Cal (115 yards rushing)
— 303 all-purpose yards vs. Oregon State (206 yards rushing)
— 260 all-purpose yards vs. Arizona, including kickoff returns of 67 and 21 yards
— 369 all-purpose yards vs. UCLA, including a school-record 243 yards rushing on 25 carries and a 96-yard kickoff return
— 300 all-purpose yards vs. Washington including 109 yards rushing on 23 carries and 112 yards receiving on five catches.
I can hardly wait to see him Saturday. I’m guessing the Buffs aren’t quite so eager to see him perform.
