What was supposed to be a three-year robotics program between Boulder’s Techstars and Qualcomm of San Diego has ended.
Qualcomm and Techstars announced the Qualcomm Robotics Accelerator a year ago. But the wireless telecommunications company has struggled since then.
The company began to lay off employees two months ago and announced a plan to cut its global workforce of 31,300 by 15 percent over the next year. According to notices filed with the state Department of Labor, the company will let go about 158 people at its Longmont location.
Qualcomm chief technology officer Matt Grob said Friday that it was too difficult for the company to justify the cost of the accelerator program.
