According to a state audit, RTD needs to do a better job disciplining bus and light-rail operators who use their cellphones while driving. (RJ Sangosti, Denver Post file)
Re: “No exceptions to RTD’s texting-while-driving rules,” Nov. 2 editorial.
Your editorial about RTD drivers who are caught texting brings up a question: Is RTD serious about solving this problem? If it is, then a 20-day suspension of drivers caught texting is not a serious or adequate response to a potentially life-ending problem. If RTD wants to send a clear message that it will not tolerate drivers who put riders’ lives at risk by texting, then a no-tolerance policy of immediate termination should be instituted.
