A Greeley man hitchhiked to El Paso County, where he allegedly shot his wife, as well as fatally shooting a second victim, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
The couple were in the midst of a divorce.
Maxwell Garihan, 59, was arrested Oct. 16 on suspicion of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in the Black Forest-area shootings.
On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said investigators have “credible information” that Garihan hitched from Greeley to the shooting scene.
Garihan is accused of wounding Margaret Temple and killing Alan Havens late on Oct. 15 or early Oct. 16.
Anyone who may have seen or encountered Garihan between Greeley and Colorado Springs on Oct. 15 is asked to call Detective Scott Mackey at 719-390-5555.
