Getting your player ready...

Nathan MacKinnon got the game-winning goal 13:01 of the third period, off a great play against the wall by linemate Jarome Iginla:

Avalanche scores final three goals and wins 6-3 against the Calgary Flames at the Pepsi Center. .

Big games for former Flames captain Jarome Iginla (two goals, assist), Nathan MacKinnon (game-winning goal, two helpers), Matt Duchene (two goals) and Erik Johnson (SHG, assist) … and, oh yeah, Tyson Barrie (three assists), Gabe Landeskog (two assists) and Francois Beauchemin (two assists). Not really. Johnson joked that he and D-partner Beauchemin didn’t play that well, except for that play that capped a brilliant shorthanded sequence by forwards Landeskog and Jack Skille. But points happen when the team is generating offensive opportunities, and Colorado had a season-high 42 shots.

Here’s the tail end of that shorthanded goal sequence:

Calgary’s Sam Bennett had 1-1-2 and minus-1 with two disallowed goals.

Patrick Roy postgame presser:

I’m wondering how long the Avs keep Calvin Pickard in the minors. The 23-year-old Pickard is the AHL’s goalie of the month for October.

AHL goalie of month (Oct): San Antonio’s Calvin Pickard. Went 5-0-1, 1.79 GAA, .946 SP while 34-plus shots per game

Here’s Erik Johnson describing his shorty:

Finally, the Avs were tentatively scheduled to practice Wednesday before traveling to Arizona. But after Tuesday’s game they announced they wouldn’t skate — the non-scratches, that is — at Family Sports Center. Which means they’ll almost certainly have a morning skate Thursday in Glendale, Ariz., and hope to improve to 3-0 after having a full team skate in the AM of a game.
