East Alameda Avenue, closed at Sable Boulevard since Oct. 4 for construction of the new light-rail line, is reopening Friday as early as 10 a.m., more than two weeks ahead of schedule.
RTD warns that motorists will still see intermittent lane closures and diverted traffic patterns on Alameda for work on drainage improvements in the area.
The transit agency had promised Alameda would open in time for Thanksgiving so motorists could access stores in the area.
“We’re thankful to the community and local businesses for their support through the reconstruction of this intersection …,” RTD project manager Chuck Culig said in a statement.
The 10.5 mile light-rail line is scheduled to open by the end of 2016.
