
1 Man refunds cheese, makes off with movies. A clerk at King Soopers, 7984 W. Alameda Ave., Lakewood, said she witnessed a shoplifting Oct. 27. She said a man in his early 30s refunded some cheese at the service desk and then took two books, five Blu-ray movies and a soda, placed them in a reusable grocery bag and exited the store without paying. Police have reviewed video footage and are searching for a suspect.
2 Sleeping it off. A man and woman were found sleeping in the walkway of Showers of Flowers, 6900 W. Colfax Ave., in the early morning of Oct. 27. The man was found with an open, 24-ounce can of high-gravity beer. He was cited for having an open container, and both were issued summonses for trespassing at the yarn store.
3 Tenants robbed. A homeowner reported Oct. 27 that someone burglarized four of her five tenants in the basement she rents out of her house in the 500 block of Kendall Court. Nearly $2,000 in personal items and cash was stolen from the tenants. There are no suspects.
4 Pawn shop plundered. The owner of Pasternack’s Pawn Shop at 6851 W. Coflax Ave., reported that someone broke into the shuttered shop Oct. 26 and stole a number of items, including a Crosman pellet gun and a Craftsman router. Each item is valued at $50. There are no suspects.
5 Ladder caper. A man living in the 1200 block of Benton Street reported Oct. 27 that a man in an older model “scrapper truck” stole a metal extension ladder from his neighbor’s yard, valued at about $100. Police have a suspect in the case.
