Boulder — While it might be tedious for Colorado fans to hear as the losses mount, another opposing coach has expressed respect for the progress CU has made under coach Mike MacIntyre.

“They have a good football team, and I think improving by the year,” said Southern Cal interim coach Clay Helton, whose Trojans come to Folsom Field Friday night on a three-game winning streak. “I think coach MacIntyre is doing a terrific job. One, with the personnel he’s bringing in, and, two, developing it. This is a different Colorado team than we’ve faced the last couple of years. I know the wins aren’t coming to them like they would like, but if you look at the way they’ve been competing against some really quality teams, they seem like they’re in every game. We’d better take a championship attitude into their place … or you’ll get beat.”

Southern Cal quarterback Cody Kessler threw for 319 yards and seven touchdowns last year against Colorado.
