COPPER MOUNTAIN — announced that it will open for the season on Wednesday, Veterans Day, and all active or retired military plus their dependents can receive free lift tickets on that day.
The Summit County resort, after initially having to delay its planned opening for a week because of mild and dry conditions, received a healthy dose of snow last week and now will open two days earlier than the postponed date. It will begin running the American Eagle chairlift at 9 a.m. Wednesday, and two trails will be open to skiers and riders.
The first 400 guests in line will be treated to doughnuts and hot chocolate. All military and dependents will be required to show a valid ID at the ticket window to receive the free lift tickets.
