Broncos defensive end Malik Jackson has been nominated for USAA’s fifth annual Salute to Service Award for his commitment to the military community.

USAA announces the finalists for the award in January and the winner will be recognized at the NFL Honors awards show in San Francisco on Feb. 6, the night before Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara.

Jackson drew USAA’s attention because of his support of military children through Helping Hands for Freedom. Jackson, who has 27 tackles and 3.5 sacks this season, also held his first football camp for kids this past summer.

Past winners of the award are Jared Allen, John Harbaugh, Charles Tillman, and late Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams, a World War II veteran.
