BOULDER — Friday night is Senior night for Colorado as the Buffaloes close out their home schedule against Southern Cal, a team they have never beaten.

Among the 15 seniors who will be honored is record-setting receiver Nelson Spruce, who will leave with school records in receptions (currently at 272) and receiving yards (3,022). He needs two touchdowns to break Scotty McKnightap record (22).

“Itap going to be, I feel, like a weird feeling,” Spruce said of Friday’s game. “You don’t really see the end coming when you’re younger, but now I’m going to be actually playing in Folsom for the last time. Itap going to be special, obviously — a night game, I’m going to have my family down there, itap probably going to be pretty emotional.”

Spruce said running out onto the field with Ralphie is a special feeling that never gets old, but Friday will be his last opportunity.

“Since I’ve been a little kid I’ve been dreaming of playing Pac-12 football,” Spruce said. “Being able to run out in front of thousands of fans like that with what I think is the best mascot in the country, itap really special.”

In his four years at CU, the Buffs have gone 11-35 (3-30 in the Pac-12), and he says he’s not interested in a moral victory Friday night. He want to beat USC. But he does take pride in how close the Buffs have played some good teams this season, hoping that will be the legacy of his class.

“Obviously I didn’t get the wins here that I wanted, but looking back on my time, thatap a legacy I want to leave,” Spruce said. “Setting the foundation, because I think this program is heading in the right direction.”
