University of Missouri campus police were investigating threats on social media late Tuesday, and the student Senate asked administers to cancel Wednesday classes on the Columbia campus.

The threats came after a series of protests about the way the school handled racial problems led to the resignations Monday of MU’s president and Columbia chancellor.

Earlier Tuesday, an assistant professor of communications apologized for confronting a student who was videotaping during the protests.

Melissa Click says in the statement released Tuesday that she regrets her actions a day earlier. She is seen in the video challenging student Mark Schierbecker and calling for “muscle” to help remove him from the protest area.

Schierbecker was filming a confrontation between a student photographer and protesters, who were preventing him from taking pictures.

Click apologized to all journalists and the university community for detracting from the students’ efforts to improve the racial climate on campus.
