
An Idaho Springs mother has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for the death of her toddler.
Haley Stanfield, 21, was sentenced Nov. 2 in Georgetown, according to a Clear Creek District Attorney’s Office media release.
Stanfield, who pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death, was sentenced for the May 13, 2014,
Stanfield, who will serve five years of parole after being released from prison, shook the boy and caused a fatal brain injury, the jury found. The child died at Children’s Hospital in Aurora.
“There is nothing that will bring back Logan who was a beautiful young boy and while a modicum of justice is served through this conviction for a horrible crime, the primary lesson here is never, ever shake a child,” District Attorney Bruce Brown said in the release.
Joshua Olsen, 23, a former boyfriend of Olsen who was a caretaker of Logan, is scheduled to appear Monday Nov. 16 in district court in connection to the boy’s death.
