The Denver Police Department took an attempted murder suspect in custody in a residential neighborhood on Thursday afternoon.
The suspect, 37-year-old Kirk Len Boyd, was caught in a backyard in the area of the 3200 block of Ash Street.
The attempted murder took place on Saturday, Nov. 7, at an apartment building in the area of West 55th Avenue and Newland Street in Arvada , according to an Arvada police news release.
Boyd shot at a victim one time. The victim later sought medical treatment and survived his injury, the release said.
The Commerce City Police Department had the male suspect under surveillance and attempted to pull him over on Thursday when he took off and was pursued to the 3200 block of Ash Street in Denver, police said.
The suspect’s vehicle stopped, and he took off on foot throughout the neighborhood.
The suspect was driving a black GMC truck.
A perimeter was set up in the area while investigators searched for the suspect.
Residents in the perimeter were told by police to stay inside their houses.
SWAT armored vehicles were patrolling the scene.
