Chance Canty of Sanford and Mikaela Parker of Calhan were announced earlier this week as state winners for the Wendy’s heisman Awards.
The Coloradans advance to the next round in which there will be five males and five females chosen nationally as finalists.
The program honors and rewards prep seniors who are well-rounded in the areas, of academics, athletics and contribute to the community.
Canty and Parker were chosen from a field of 20 Coloradans that also included:

The National winners will be announced on Dec. 11.
The eight finalists that do not win will receive a gold medal, a Heisman patch, a $100 Wendy’s gift card and $2,000 school donation in the students’ name.
The two National Winners will receive a Wendy’s High School Heisman Trophy, a Wendy’s High School Heisman National Winner patch and a $500 Wendy’s gift card as well as a $5,000 donation to their high schools in their names.
