After only one week of being released, Fallout 4 is breaking all sorts of records. Bethesda softworks shipped approximately 12 million units worldwide and sold 1.87 million digital downloads just in the first three days. Even the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy collector’s edition sold out within hours of its announcement and was the fastest collector’s edition to be sold of any game in history.
Major retailers announced to Bethesda that Fallout 4 was the most preordered game this year. After its release, retailers reported that launch-day sales were the largest of any game released this year. Bethesda is shipping out more copies to meet this demand. Even digitally purchased copies of the game broke records. On Steam, Fallout 4 was the No. 1 game played with more than 470,000 concurrent players.
Ever since its announcement back in June at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Fallout 4 has won 160 awards, including “Best of Show” voted by an independent group of journalists that cover the gaming industry.
Bethesda might receive some “Game of the year” awards with Fallout 4. Previous Bethesda “Game of the year” titles include Fallout 3 in 2008 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in 2011.
