NEW ORLEANS — The Nuggets’ injury report grows daily.
Nuggets forward Darrell Arthur was added to the fray Tuesday. He’s not actually injured but is dealing with a sinus infection, which kept him from playing against the Pelicans. He’s questionable to play in Wednesday’s game at San Antonio.
Will Barton played Tuesday night, but he has a bruised left shoulder. Kenneth Faried played, but he has been doing so for most of the season with a sore lower back. Reserve guard Jameer Nelson’s sprained SI joint is healing enough to allow him to play, but he’s still dealing with it.
All these issues are in addition to centers Jusuf Nurkic (knee) and Joffrey Lauvergne (back) sitting out and Wilson Chandler being out for the season after undergoing surgery this week to repair a labral tear in his right hip.
Lauvergne is not expected to play at San Antonio. His next chance to return is Friday at home against Phoenix.
New Orleans has suffered massive injuries as well, and coach Michael Malone was asked about the impact of that before the game.
“Injuries just aren’t limited to the New Orleans Pelicans, now,” Malone said. “Injuries are part of the NBA, and what you hope is when guys go down, other guys on your roster are willing and able to take advantage of the opportunity that’s presented itself.”
Footnotes. The Nuggets face a Spurs team Wednesday that has beaten them six consecutive times. The Spurs have won the last four matchups between the two in San Antonio, and they swept the season series 3-0 last season. … San Antonio is reporting no injuries coming in.
