BOULDER — A St. Vrain Valley School District driver who rolled a school bus with eight children on board Monday told a state trooper following the crash that she was on “about six prescription medications.”
Boulder County District Court records indicate Elizabeth Burris — who, along with five of her passengers, was injured in the accident — consented to a sobriety test at a hospital but did not perform them as instructed.
Burris, 39, was taken into custody about 7:20 p.m. Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence and multiple counts of careless driving causing injury, vehicular assault and child abuse, according to Boulder County jail records. She was released Tuesday evening on bail.
According to the State Patrol, Burris lost control of her bus on Colorado 7 west of Lyons about 4 p.m. Monday and rolled it onto its side. Five of the eight children on board were hospitalized after the crash.
