An inmate in the Larimer County Jail attacked a corrections deputy Friday, the sheriff’s office said.
Justin Charles Donaghho, 33, got out of a bunk and was walking toward a housing unit door when a deputy told him to return to his bunk, officials say.
Donaghho failed to comply and when the deputy extended his arm to stop the inmate Donaghho attacked, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said in a media release.
Donaghho allegedly struck the deputy several times in the head. The deputy used a taser but it was ineffective and Donaghho continued to strike, according to the release. The deputy was able to wrestle Donaghho to the floor and call for assistance.
Several deputies were able to restrain to Donaghho, who was treated by medical jail staff for minor lacerations and abrasions, the sheriff’s office said.
The deputy who was attacked was treated at a local hospital for a concussion.
Donaghho was being held at the jail on multiple charges including failure to appear, possession of a controlled substance, and identity theft.
He’ll now face additional charges for the Friday incident, the release said.
