The post office in Lakewood is always a chore, and not just during the holidays — but sometimes you just have to go. Last Thursday afternoon I was standing in line and there were more than 30 people still ahead of me, with only two employees waiting on customers. I had a large envelope to mail. Then an angel appeared and offered to go to the automatic mailing machine — which is too complicated for me. She was in her 20s and had an armful of packages. She had no idea what that did for me, being past 90 and in lots of pain.

I got to thinking, if someone wanted to do some volunteer work, they could go there any afternoon and keep busy doing that. It would be so appreciated.
