The question has become the elephant in the room at the start of every week: Who will be the Broncos’ starting quarterback?
Coach Gary Kubiak said he plans to start all over in determining the status of quarterbacks Brock Osweiler and Peyton Manning as the team turns its focus toward Cincinnati Monday night.
“Nothing has changed,” Kubiak said. “We’ll have a plan in place when we get to Wednesday, and we’ll go to work.”
Osweiler injured his shoulder late in the first half after taking a hit on a scramble attempt. He had a medical exam Monday to examine the significance of the injury, but there wasn’t much worry on his status going forward.
“He’s sore today. He played through it,” Kubiak said. “All inclinations are he will be OK. He’s day-to-day right now.”
Osweiler was adamant after the game that his shoulder injury didn’t affect his throwing. Kubiak agreed. He said the only effect he believed it had on Osweiler was the ability to hand the ball off to the running backs.
Manning is expected to return to practice on Wednesday and the team will know more about his status after the see how he works. Kubiak said as of Monday afternoon, he hadn’t talked to Manning since the game ended in Pittsburgh.
