Gov. John Hickenlooper announced several appointments to boards and commissions on Tuesday.

• Dean Singleton, the chairman of The Denver Post, an unaffiliated voter from Denver, was appointed to the Colorado State University governing board. The board selects the presidents of CSU and CSU Pueblo and generally oversees the schools including determination of salaries and tuition and carrying out other legal functions.

• Julie Anne Cozad, of Milliken, is serving as a Republican from the Fourth Congressional District appointed to the Colorado Commission on the Aging. The commission conducts studies and encourages other organizations to do studies of the problems of the state’s elderly residents.

• Sarah Eva Mersnick of Colorado Springs is serving as a member of the general public appointed to the State Board of Marriage and Family Therapist Examiners. The board adopts rules and regulations for the professions, conducts examinations and grants or denies licenses.

• Connie Sue Zachrich of Castle Rock is serving as an expert in stroke database management on the Stroke Advisory Board. The board evaluates potential strategies for stroke prevention and treatment and tries to improve quality of care for stroke patients.
