Exploration Day

The entire family can learn about Colorado’s mineral and mining heritage on Family Exploration Day at the Western Museum of Mining & Industry from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 2 in Colorado Springs. Cowboy Downhill

The 42nd annual Bud Light Cowboy Downhill in Steamboat Springs will be Jan. 18. During the main event, more than 100 professional rodeo cowboys will compete in a timed slalom race. Spectators can visit a 4-H animal petting zoo, take a learn-to-rope clinic and attend a free concert in Gondola Square after the race.

Stagecoach Classic

The third annual Stagecoach Classic is Jan. 23. Participate in the 15/30k Classic Ski Race or the 15k Ski/Snowshoe Tour. All events start at Devil’s Thumb Ranch and end in Hideaway Park in Winter Park. Race and tour registration is $60-70. 970-726-4118 or
