Re: “Denver Water changes method used to calculate rate, raises fixed fee,” Dec. 20 news story.
Under Denver Water’s new rate structure, watch the suburbs turn brown.
Denver has far more small lots than do the suburbs. Out here we already pay higher rates than do the residents of Denver.
This year with a wet spring and half of the summer, there was no need to water the lawns and gardens. However, come the fall, we did not have a drop of rain where I live, so what I saved in water during the wet months was made up by a huge bill during the drought months.
Please don’t tell me to use dry landscaping; I can’t afford to change what I have.
Brown isn’t my favorite color, but I can live with it. I hope that the neighbors won’t mind.
