Denver firefighters responded Monday afternoon to a call in north Denver at an animal crematorium.
About nine companies, or a little more than 30 firefighters responded to the incident at 39th and Niagara.
Two men, who tried to fight the fire, were evaluated at the scene, treated and released.
The initial call at 2:15 p.m. suggested there may have been an explosion, but firefighters have not confirmed that, said Tony Berumen, assistant fire chief.
The fire was extinguished, and now investigators are looking at what may have caused the furnace used for animal cremation to start a fire.
One additional unit on the strip mall of warehouse space off of Smith Road, sustained water damage, Berumen said.
This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
