Interview with Peter Wanberg, founder

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: I’ve been working on Jubilee since the spring of 2015 after dreaming a way out of our East Colfax warehouse space. What started as a small idea to make the building more creative has turned into a full-fledged coffee roasting company, coffee shop and art studio.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: Within the specialty coffee world, it can be almost formulaic to create a great cup of Instagram-worthy joe, which we certainly do. But, above and beyond a beautiful latte is our 2,000 square feet of creative space, coffee roasted in-house and our unconventional location. While we are doing great in the coffee game, we are still developing and growing a food menu, longer hours and exterior aesthetics.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: The ability and resources to dream and then create.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Our retail space opened Dec. 1, so exposure is our biggest challenge there. We believe morning commuter traffic from Denver to the Anschutz Medical Campus will bring great opportunity for morning sales.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: We took the first eight months to demo the existing interior, then design and build our tables, the bar, shelves and anything else made of wood or metal. It was a dream.
