The Postal Service announced Thursday that the New Horizons flyby of Pluto, a mission with strong Boulder ties, is being honored with two new stamps.
It’s not the first time that pioneering venture has seen philatelic recognition.
In 2006, NASA placed a 29-cent, 1991 “Pluto: Not Yet Explored” stamp on board the New Horizons spacecraft as it was embarking on its nine-year voyage.
On July 14, the spacecraft carried that stamp on its history-making mission as it sped past Pluto, just 7,700 miles above its surface and on through the Kuiper belt toward the constellation Sagittarius.
