A half-day emergency preparedness drill for the soon-to-open from Union Station to DIA is set for Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

The exercise will take place at 32nd Avenue and Pagosa Street on the bridge structure over I-70 in Aurora, according to the Regional Transportation District.

The drill is part of the of the A Line project. The .

The drill will involve the lead contractor for the project, Denver Transit Partners, RTD, emergency responders and other local agencies.

“This is a critical time for Denver Transit Partners as we continue to take the necessary steps to ensure we are prepared to respond to an emergency,” said Aaron Epstein, Denver Transit Partner executive project director. “As always, our number one priority is the safety of traveling public, and a rehearsed, coordinated response amongst partners will help us continue to safely and effectively achieve that.”

The exercise will emphasize the coordinated role of fire and law enforcement agencies, emergency management, and DTP and RTD specifically as it relates to a train and pedestrian accident on the A Line.
