Interview with Les Gomez, general manager

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: I think the owners fell into the business somewhat. I do not have the details. They are silent owners. I have worked in different restaurants in the local area over the past 20 years. Beso brought a new opportunity for me to help the owners’ take the restaurant to a new level.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: We have a great mountain feel and we have very eclectic menu covering a broad spectrum of food from Mexico and its coastal areas. We have changed our menu. We now have all lunch and dinner items available at all times. This gives our patrons a chance to experience all of our food any time of the day. Our wine and local craft beers help with our tourists’ needs.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: Meeting and working with people from all over the U.S. and local families. Red Rocks is a huge draw for the town.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Keeping the the restaurant full during the winter. Seems like we’re off the grid here in off-season. Locals have misplaced us also during the winter.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: That it’s been here for 12 years. And the food is good and the atmosphere is awesome. It’s small, but we like to give a good experience while guests are here.
