
Colorado’s school enrollment continued an increase, although a slower one, this year according to new numbers released by the state Thursday.
Statewide preschool through 12th-grade enrollment in the fall of 2015 increased by 10,106 from last year, bringing the total to 899,112 public school students.

Among the fastest growth, according to a news release from the Colorado Department of Education, was seen at online schools.
This year, 18,664 students — 2.1 percent of all the state’s public school students — were enrolled in an online school. It’s a growth of 9.4 percent over last year’s enrollment.
Among the districts, Denver Public Schools continued the state’s fastest growth, and for the second year in a row is the largest school district in the state.
Adams School District 50 in Westminster continued an enrollment drop with a decrease of 657 students, or 6.5 percent. Part of the decrease is attributed to a charter school, Crown Pointe Charter Academy, moving to the Charter School Institute.
By race and ethnicity, the fastest growing population of students was Hispanic and Latino students, who now account for more than 300,000 students in the state. By percentage growth, the largest increase was among students classified as two or more races.
