Denver native made his debut on CBS’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Thursday night, and as anyone familiar with his talk-show stunts won’t be surprised to hear, it was weird, awkward and (seemingly) refreshingly unscripted.

The comic and actor, known for his award-winning role in HBO’s “Silicon Valley” and his absurdist stand-up routine, was promoting his hosting gig for the 21st annual Critic’s Choice Awards, as well as his upcoming appearance in Marvel’s “Deadpool,” to be released in February.

In five short minutes, Miller smashed an egg on his head, caressed Colbert’s face with plastic skeleton hands and told Colbert, “You’re my wife’s favorite comic… present company included.”

After relaying a story about his appearance at last year’s Critic’s Choice Awards, he smashed an egg against his forehead and mentioned some upcoming projects about which he was excited.

“I’m excited that I have more than one suit,” Colbert said as he wiped egg yolk off himself with an apparent mixture of amusement and annoyance. “So you’re telling me your wife doesn’t like this?”

Miller has honed his provocative talk-show act on various morning shows from network-news affiliates, the defunct “Chelsea Lately,” podcasts, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and the orignial “Late Show with David Letterman” — the last of which helped corner the market on awkward, surprising, absurdist comedian interviews.
