
1 Late-night arson. A man who lives in the 9400 block of Elm Court, Federal Heights, called police Dec. 10 because someone apparently tried to burn down his house while he was sleeping. The man’s roommate saw a light flickering outside and opened the door to see 3-foot-tall flames climbing up the side of the house. He put the flames out himself. There are no suspects.
2 Party’s over. A man was arrested for threatening to shoot a roomful of people at a party in the 13800 block of Ivanhoe Street, Thornton, on Dec. 19. The suspect said his guests tried to beat him up, so he got his handgun out of his room and forced them to leave.
3 On the run. A patrolling police officer tried to stop a car that was speeding in the 9100 block of West Pecos Street, Federal Heights, on Dec. 12. The driver sped off, eventually losing control of the car and crashing. Four people ran in different directions from the car. All of them were caught.
4 Wandering dog. Police received a call Dec. 7 that a boxer puppy was running loose at Federal Heights Elementary School, 2500 W. 96th Ave. Police caught the dog and took it to a shelter. A week later, the dog’s owner showed up to claim it. He was cited.
5 Road rage. Police responded to the intersection of East 88th Avenue and York Street, Thornton, because two men got into a car wreck Dec. 19, and one man punched the other man’s car.
6 Parking lot fireworks. Two brothers were cited Dec. 26 for shooting off fireworks at their business in the 6600 block of Colorado Boulevard, Commerce City.
