
1 Text scam. Someone texted a woman who lives in the 17500 block of East Mansfield Avenue that she was preapproved for a loan and all she needed to do was text back with her Social Security number, bank account number and routing number. The woman told the scammer to stop Jan. 5, then the scammer texted profanities to her.
2 New clothes. Employees at the Walmart at 14000 E. Exposition Ave. called police Dec. 31 because a man came into the store, took off his coat and sweater, threw them on the floor and then put on a new coat and sweater and went toward the door. He pushed security officers over when they tried to stop him.
3 Thwarted burglar. A woman woke up to the sound of her patio door shattering Jan. 7. She yelled that she was calling the police, and the intruder ran away from her home in the 18000 block of East Ohio Avenue. There are no suspects.
4 Gym thefts. People working out at the Planet Fitness at 13730 E. Mississippi Ave. realized that someone stole their cash and credit cards from their cars Jan. 1. The victims speculated that someone took their keys from the center’s key rack and ransacked their cars.
5 Rocks and bullets. A man called police to his home in the 4800 block of Buchanan Street because he found a dent in his car and suspected that someone shot a gun at it Jan. 5. The responding officer said the dent looked like it was from a thrown rock.
6 Unlocked car. A man called police Jan. 7 because someone stole his wallet from his car after he left it unlocked and parked in the 11800 block of East Colfax Avenue.
