The Broncos-Patriots TV ratings were record-setting: Sunday’s telecast of the New England-Denver game is the second most-watched AFC Championship game on any network in 39 years with 53.3 million viewers.

The Broncos-Patriots telecast trails only that of the New York Jets-Pittsburgh AFC Championship game on January 23, 2011, which drew 54.9 million on CBS.

The CBS broadcast drew an average household ratingof 29.3 and a 51 share (percent of sets turned on were tuned to the game). That is the highest rating for the AFC Championship game on any network in 30 years.

New England-Denver peaked with an average of 62.9 million viewers from 4:00-4:30 p.m. locally.

The evening game Sunday on Fox, in which the Carolina Panthers beat the Arizona Cardinals for the NFC title, had an audience of some 45.7 million.
