Interview with Valerie Strandquist and Karen Carter, co-owners

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: It was a spontaneous, impulsive decision, which has turned out to be an adventure that we are enjoying immensely. We made the decision to go for it and, within six weeks, our doors were open for business. We haven’t looked back and are excited for the future.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: We have a little bit of everything … a retail destination for women seeking a unique and individual style of clothing, accessories, home decor and gifts, including our signature products, as well as one-of-a-kind furniture. We also have recently begun to stock Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan. We will be conducting monthly workshops and are incredibly excited about this new addition to our store.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: What we like best about our line of work is finding unique merchandise and subsequently hearing from our customers that they not only love what we buy but that our prices are very reasonable.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Probably finding the right merchandise at the right price. It takes a tremendous of amount of time, but it’s all worth it when we have happy customers.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: That we offer interior design services as well as custom furniture painting. We also offer workshops for do-it-yourselfers.
