Ski Trek
Cross country ski the Fraser to Granby Trail during the Ranch 2 Ranch Ski Trek on Feb. 6. This family- and dog-friendly event features a 12-13-kilometer trek from Granby Ranch to Snow Mountain Ranch. $25 for Grand Nordic Members, $35 for nonmembers; day-of registration at the Granby Ranch Lodge, from 9-10:30 a.m, add $5. Tickets for the After Trek Barbecue are $12 for adults, $6.50 for children 6-13, free for 5 and younger.
Silverton skijoring
Silverton’s seventh annual Skijoring Races will be held on Notorious Blair Street at “high noon,” Feb. 13-14. During the races, spectators can view single riders on horseback racing through a snow-packed course while pulling a skier hanging to a tow rope. Competitors race for cash prizes. 970-744-9446 or
Laff fest
Aspen’s Wheeler Opera House will host the sixth annual Aspen Laff Festival, Feb. 18-20. Comedy fans can enjoy new shows like “Hooking Up” and stand up comedians like Heather McDonald, Gilbert Gottfried, Steve Byrne and Pete Holmes. Tickets for all five shows are $125. Single tickets $35-45.
Winter games
Copper Mountain is the official training site for Colorado-based winter Special Olympics athletes and will host the Colorado Winter Games, Feb. 28, 7:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. Athletes will compete in alpine skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing.
