Re: In defense of Wounded Warriors, Feb. 2 letter to the editor.

According to recent news, the Wounded Warriors Project raised $342 million in public contributions in 2014. Of that amount, $205 million was used for support and rehabilitation of military service persons who were wounded in defense of the United States and the American people. The remaining $137 million was used for media advertising, sales promotional expenses and some lavish team building conclaves at extravagant resorts. One such gathering amounted to 500 staff members attending a three-day event costing $3 million.
A recent letter-writer asked: So what?
We already have one organization, the Department of Veterans Affairs, which is sworn to operate on behalf of wounded military veterans but instead engages in obfuscation, malfeasance and lavish spending practices. It seems that a group like Wounded Warriors, a charity, would strive to rise above such disgraceful practices.
