Re: Winter bike commute tips: Mixing icicles and bicycles, Feb. 6 Life & Culture story.

I am an avid year-round bike commuter, and I ride downtown to work whenever possible. I am lucky to live just across the street from the Cherry Creek bike trail. Many of my coworkers also bike to work on the same trail and have stated that they don t ride as frequently in the winter because the city doesn t put down any sand or salt after plowing the trail. As a result, the trail stays icy and slippery, sometimes for weeks. If the city really wants to encourage more people to abandon their cars for bikes, why can t they make this seemingly simple fix?
