Colorado Springs police arrested a 59-year-old man on Thursday evening after they say he fired several shots at his neighbors after a “verbal exchange.”

Michael Oakes is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail at the El Paso County jail, records show.

Officers were called about 7 p.m. to the 1900 block of Copper Creek Drive on reports of shots fired.

Investigators say they found Oakes shot about five rounds at his neighbors while they were walking up their driveway.

“Evidence was collected that corroborated the victims’ statements,” police said in a news release. “The suspect was taken into custody and the firearm was collected.”

No one was injured.
