Re: Gunned down Mesa County deputy to be taken off life support, Feb. 10 news story.

I want to thank Mesa County Sheriff s Deputy Derek Geer and his family for his service in law enforcement. My heart aches for his family. After the tragedy they endured, they chose to give the ultimate by donating his organs.

I am a liver recipient and although I had a live donor in my sister, I know many people waiting for a liver or a kidney. Hard as it may be, I can only hope that Geer s family can find comfort in knowing that they gave others their lives back, and that someday they will be strong enough to meet those people they gave a second life.

As for the coward who took Geer s life, he will eventually have to answer for his actions. Hopefully he will have to answer for them here on Earth, too.

Peace to the Geer family; you are in my prayers.
