Re: Where was Bernie Sanders on North Korea sanctions vote?, Feb. 18 letter to the editor.
I found Robert Lowden s letter complaining about Bernie Sanders missing a Senate vote rather misinformed.
For starters, the vote on North Korea sanctions was 96-0. Lots of suspense there. Additionally, Lowden points out that the two Republican senators who are running for president took the time out of their campaigns to go on record on this issue.
Let s go to the numbers. Sanders has missed 11 percent of the Senate votes over the past year, according to GovTrack.us. Who leads the list on missed votes for presidential candidates? Marco Rubio is first at 26 percent and Ted Cruz is third at 20 percent, so let s contain our faux derision.
And Donald Trump isn t in Congress, so he never missed anything (except perhaps some bank payments).
