Denver-area residents interested in trying their hands at building iterations of Hexagon Geospatial’s next-generation mapping app — and potentially landing prize money in the process — could get their chance Thursday morning.

Software developer , a Norcross, Ga.-based unit of Sweden’s Hexagon, is hosting a to spur ideas for how to utilize the company’s Smart M.App mapping application.

The cloud-based Smart M.App can be integrated with content and data sets and then applied to a variety of industries and uses including finance, agriculture, health, conservation and infrastructure. Thursday’s workshop, which kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m. at , 1401 Curtis St., in Denver.

Attendees . The public then will vote to select the top 20 ideas. The finalists will build the apps and submit their creation by Aug. 31. The winners will be announced on Dec. 15.

Hexagon Geospatial is handing out a total of $260,000 in prizes, including $100,000 to the winner.
