Interview with Steve Wiest, producer

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: In the fourth grade, my fantastic mother and father bought my brother and me the same gift for Christmas. The gifts were two cassette recorders. I decided to record me playing guitar into one recorder. Then I played it back through the speaker and recorded me playing trumpet over it on my brother’s recorder. This was the first time I multitracked a recording. Also, just up the street, a neighbor had a four-track recorder and at times he would let me come in and marvel over it. This was the beginning.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: I think the answer is inclusiveness and the uncommon ability to be multidimensional. Some folks might think we are “too big” to even consider working with them or, on the other hand, that we can’t handle the size of their project. This is far from the truth. We are all about developing freshly budding new talent or helping the most seasoned artist with their dreams. Whether it’s a singer songwriter, touring band, paperback writer wanting to do an audio book, small company making a video podcast show or major production company needing a sound stage to shoot on, we are affordable, accessible and can help in a multitude of the smallest, grandest and diverse ways. We are open to helping everyone with all types of recorded media. Then delivering them on all of the worlds social media platforms and hard copies such as CDs, DVDs, etc.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: Working with everyone who has a dream, idea or concept and seeing it turn into a reality. Showing folks that they can do it and it’s not as hard or expensive as they thought. Also, supporting our community.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Having enough time in the day. There’s just never enough time

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: I think the most surprising thing about StudioStars is the size of the studio. Almost every time someone first comes into StudioStars they are amazed by how many rooms we have and just how big the space is, with off-street parking. Another really pleasant surprise is our prime location in Olde Town Arvada. It is a very special town to visit with great people and a fun place for everyone.
