El Paso County authorities on Monday formally identified last week in the town of Palmer Lake.
The county sheriff’s office said Dan Murray, 77, and Jeff Kaplitz, 60, died when the single-engine Curtiss Wright Travel Air 4000 they were in .
The Longmont Times-Call says Murray was listed as the owner of the same vintage model aircraft and reports he was a fixture at the Vance Brand Municipal Airport in Longmont.
Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
