A baby girl died Sunday at a local hospital of “unexplained injuries,” according to Lakewood police.
The 3-month-old child was taken by emergency personnel to the hospital on Thursday, according to a Lakewood Police Department media release.
West Metro Fire Rescue and police responded to a residence in the 5300 block of W. 16th Ave. on a 911 call about a child who was “experiencing difficulty breathing,” police said.
The child, who was at home with her 20-year-old father, was immediately rushed to the hospital, police said.
The infant remained at the hospital, where she died at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.
“She had been receiving treatment for what detectives feel are unexplained injuries,” police said.
An investigation is ongoing, no arrest has been made.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police at 303-987-7111.
