Interview with Stacey Crawford, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: After being a furniture dealer in many markets, and with an 18-year background in commercial retail management, I decided it was time to follow my dream of having my own store. My vision was to provide a beautiful, welcoming venue for other creative people who wanted to do more with their furniture business other than selling their great inventory from their garage. The Vintage Vine took off and has been growing ever since.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: At the Vintage Vine, our vendors love to blend old and new furniture and decor. We offer you the modern vintage and shabby chic look you love, drawing inspiration from your favorite home decorating shows like “Fixer Upper.” Upcycled, custom, repurposed and reimagined home decor can all be found here to complete your eclectic and unique decorating concept. We stage our displays to show you exactly how these looks can be purposefully applied in your own home, to inspire you and help you really see the look you want to create. Each room is staged like, well, a room. Our furniture is functional, practical and, above all, affordable. I’m often asked why our furniture is priced so low. It’s easy — we want to sell it, and we want you to enjoy it. We have as much fun flipping creative looks quickly as you do seeing fresh new items all the time.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: I love to see old furniture become vibrant again, full of new life and beauty. Let’s face it — furniture just isn’t made the way it used to be. There are still great pieces in circulation with strong bones and lots of life left in them that can offer many more years of enjoyment and use. Creating fresh, modern updates to old furniture and offering it at a great price is very satisfying. It’s exciting when our customers connect with the looks we have created, and it will easily blend with today’s trends. But, most of all, I love being able to offer this venue as a creative platform for vendors who want to take their love of creating this furniture to the next level and actually get it in front of customers every day.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: Our biggest challenge is being able to reach everyone (customers and vendors alike) who can benefit from our amazing prices and selection. We want to let everyone know who we are, where we are and what we have to offer. We just celebrated our first anniversary and we attribute that to our already loyal customer base coming back again and again.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: The Vintage Vine offers more than just great furniture and home decor in store. We also offer furniture chalk painting classes, in-home furniture paint parties and ladies night out events.
