A fire is burning Friday at an oil extraction site in northern Weld County, authorities say.
Cpl. Matt Turner, of the county sheriff’s office, said the three-well site is near the intersection of Weld County roads 119 and 104, north of the town of Raymer.
Turner said the Briggsdale Fire Department is responding. Photos from the area showed black smoke billowing into the air.
Todd Hartman, spokesman for the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, said about 1 p.m. that the fire was reportedly dying down.
Hartman said the fire appears to be burning at one of two separators at the site and that holding tanks have not been impacted.
State records show the site, called Bringelson Ranch, is operated by Texas-based Carrizo Niobrara LLC.
Further information was not immediately available.
